This is That by Anand Mehrotra
This book was written by my guru Anandji, and is his interpretation of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras padas 1 + 2. Sutra means 'clue' in Sanskrit and the Sutras are insight into making a deep connection with yourself - establishing yourself in YOGA. Regardless of your interest in yoga, you inherently ARE practicing it by learning meditation. You will find many golden nuggets of Vedic wisdom in here, I have no doubt. This is a perfect post-meditation read.
Incense from Soy You Want a Candle
Nicole is a local maker in Des Moines, IA who uses clean and natural materials to make her products. I am a huge fan of using scent energize and cleanse my home. I prefer lighting a stick in the morning as I make my coffee and ease into my day, but you could use this as a meditation support tool as well. Check out Nicole on Instagram HERE.
Abhyanga is an Ayurvedic self-care ritual of rubbing oil onto the skin. It is a very grounding, nurturing practice, one that I do at least once a day, sometimes twice. I recommend using this spray oil after the shower or bath, and before you go to bed. The oil is 'heavy' and helps ground and relax you. The is a 50/50 split of Jojoba and Sesame oil (they are quite dry so no worries about greasiness!) I have added Frankincense + Myrrh and Tobacco + Patchouli essential oil from Eden's Garden.
My favorite way to cleanse my home - light the tip of the stick and let it flame for a few moments, then blow it out. The stick will smolder and release smoke into the air. Using your conscious intention, visualize the smoke clearing away all low-vibrating energy. You can walk around your house, relighting as needed, and even fan the smoke onto yourself, cleansing your own energy.
Candles are a great way to incorporate the fire element into your space. I like to set an intention before I light the candle, allowing the flame to burn up anything that is not serving me. The candle has an added benefit of carrying earth energy from the crystal(s) that are included. These are handmade by me! Make sure you keep the wick trimmed to a 1/4 inch, and let it burn to the sides of the container the first time you light it.
Amethyst was the first stone I bought and worked with during meditation. You can place this on your altar, on your nightstand (said to help promote deeper sleep) or keep it in your car for calming vibration. Amethyst is connected to the third eye so can help bring about clarity and intuition.
Tea from Willow Moon Apothecary
Herbal tea is also incredibly grounding and great for a post-meditation drink. Willow Moon Apothecary is a local, female-owned metaphysical shop located in Indianola, IA. Check her out in Instagram HERE. Stop in the shop if you're local and bring the flyer for $5 off! (If you are out of state, you have been given a code to use online!)
Air Freshener + Sticker
These are pretty self-explanatory, but the Hamsa is a sacred symbol used for protection, so it's perfect for hanging in your car! The sticker includes one of my favorite Anandji quotes.
